Half the members of Rotary Club of Newcastle Enterprise are women and have been President for four of the past ten years. Women are making a huge impact within Rotary and their community and work places as they develop their personal confidence and influence.
Rotary is an open book. Anyone who wants to can come to a Club meeting. Even the newest of members and visitors are made to feel welcome. They are introduced to the members to sit with them ask all the questions they want to. More questioning has revealed that members have a lot of fun together and have social get-togethers just because they can.
Members come from diverse backgrounds, cultures, faiths or have no faith. Teachers, Real Estate agents, accountants, postal workers, taxi drivers, writers, shop owners, cabinet makers you name it, they are all represented in Rotary. Work from home? Just starting out in business? Moving up through the ranks? Made it to the top? Retired? There is a role for anyone in Rotary.
The majority of annual fundraising has been spent on community projects which are about service to others and nothing else. Young people’s health and welfare have been the major beneficiaries.
The Rotary Club of Newcastle Enterprise has busted many common myths about Rotary and Rotarians. Members of the public are welcome and are invited to attend any meeting as a guest.
