We were going to do some graffiti removal and met at Webb Park as usual. Looks a bit negative for Mayfield and we will be asking Newcastle City Council to do some repairs to the seats right next to the play equipment in Webb Park. The equipment is apparently on the budget for upgrade in 2016 but in the meantime the seats where parents and children sit should be safer and better than this.
Did a bit of rubbish pickup to start with then were rained on royally!! Decided that painting was off for the day and instead logged some places to be cleaned for the next graffiti run. The big unsightly sign behind the direction boards next to Waratah Station on Hanbury Street - needs removing or painting over with a plain grey as the signage is hard to see. Will report it to RMS.
Got our morning coffee and sat on the seats outside Woolies where we encountered friends and relatives, were told by a chap who's lived in Mayfield for over 20 years that he has never seen so little graffiti. He thought it was because there are fewer teeenagers living in the suburb but we decided we would take the credit. We have removed graffiti which we know has been done by people in their 20's and 30s with plenty of money and their own cars - we know their tags.
Pleased to see that The Locomotive coffee shop was full of customers.
